Maceio
Maceio is the capital city of the state of Alagoas in North East Brazil and is one of the smaller capital cities along the North East Brazil coastline. Maceio has over 20 kilometers of urban beaches

The name Maceio is of indian origin, and designates the natural continuous
streams of water which flow out of the soil. Most maceios
flow to the sea, but some get trapped and form lakes ("lagoas", in
Portuguese). Their are plenty of maceiós and lakes in this part of Brazil, because of this, the city was named Maceio, and the state, Alagoas.
Alagoas is one of smallest Brazilian states however the first two presidents
of the republic of Brazil were born in Alagoas and were Deodoro da Fonseca and Floriano Peixoto.
As you can imagine fresh fish from the sea plays a large part in the gastronomy
of Maceio
the fishes, shrimps, crabs and lobsters are some of Maceio’s specialities
. Beach front bars as well as popular upmarket restaurants the seafood is always served very fresh and prepared from local
recipes. A kind of
mollusc, the Sururu is a very great delicacy
in Maceio
and makes up part of a lot of typical seafood dishes.
